How CandidPro Works

Since CandidPro has gained immense popularity in recent years, there’s a good chance you’ve already heard about it. But what does the teeth-straightening process look like, exactly? It is a largely self-directed treatment, meaning you do most of the important stuff (i.e. wearing the aligners) along with attending virtual check-ins with our team. The average treatment timeline is only 12-18 months too, which means there’s a good chance that – if you start now – you’ll have your dream smile by this time next year!
Who CandidPro Can Help

The only way to know for sure whether or not you are eligible for CandidPro is to visit a provider. At OakBrook Dental & Orthodontics, we are pleased to offer this treatment to patients in and around McKinney. So, if you are interested, we invite you to request an appointment today! You’re also welcome to read on to learn more.
Crowded Teeth
Unfortunately, crowded teeth can negatively impact your life in several ways – from making it difficult to smile confidently to increasing your risk of common oral health problems, like tooth decay. The good news is that patients struggling with this orthodontic issue are often candidates for clear aligners!
Gaps Between Teeth
Gapped teeth also pose a risk to your oral health. So, even if you are happy with the appearance of your smile, it’s worth scheduling a consultation with us. From there, we can learn all about your dental history, conduct a comprehensive oral exam, and determine if you would benefit from CandidPro.
Bite Alignment
In addition to being able to improve the alignment of your teeth, CandidPro can improve the alignment of your bite. So, if you have an overbite, crossbite, or underbite, don’t automatically assume that traditional braces are the only solution. We may be able to achieve the same results with clear aligners!
Benefits of CandidPro

CandidPro offers a number of unique advantages that make it the ideal orthodontic treatment for many people with misalignments such as overbites, underbites, crossbites, open bites, spacing, and gaps. Here’s a brief overview of a few remarkable benefits the team at Oakbrook Dental & Orthodontics can deliver with this modern teeth-straightening solution.
Improved Comfort

While traditional metal braces consist of pointy brackets and wires, CandidPro clear aligners are crafted from smooth plastic that practically eliminates the possibility of soft tissue irritation. Most patients find that the only discomfort that happens during their treatment is the tension one feels in their teeth when switching to a new dental tray. However, this issue will go away on its own after a day or two and can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
Discreet Trays

Many people opt for CandidPro because it straightens teeth using clear aligners that are virtually invisible to casual observers. This also makes the treatment great for those anticipating a special event like a wedding or graduation, as their orthodontic appliances will not be easily visible in photographs.
Better Dental Hygiene

Traditional braces require patients to invest in a number of specialized oral hygiene tools so they can clean beneath and around their appliances. CandidPro clear aligners, on the other hand, can be easily removed so that brushing and flossing can be performed normally. This makes oral hygiene sessions easier and less time-consuming, and it can help many patients avoid unpleasant dental infections that can delay their treatments.
Quick Follow-Ups

CandidPro patients will only need to visit us every six to eight weeks for checkups, and these appointments usually last for less than half an hour. These appointments are usually much more comfortable and less extensive than the checkups required by traditional braces, and they usually only serve to make sure that the patient’s treatment is progressing as planned.
Boosted Confidence

Since CandidPro clear aligners are practically invisible, they are much less likely to be noticed than the wires and brackets that come with traditional braces. This can make it much easier for patients to maintain a professional image at work or a fashionable appearance at school, which can open many opportunities for one’s career and social life.
Non-Invasive Treatment

CandidPro treatment is typically less invasive than traditional braces because it doesn’t require as many changes to the patient’s everyday life. They can brush and floss normally while enjoying their favorite foods and socializing without worrying about people noticing their orthodontic appliances. The short and infrequent checkups needed for this treatment also mean that the patient may have to take less time off work and school.
Living with CandidPro Aligners

CandidPro aligners are a discreet, convenient way to straighten your smile. The removable trays allow you to easily maintain your oral hygiene and enjoy a full diet. In fact, they can even help you get in and out of your orthodontic appointments faster than you could with traditional braces. If you’re ready to get straighter teeth without the hassle of wires and brackets, here are just a few ways that living with CandidPro is easier!
Wearing Your Trays

With CandidPro, each set of aligners will need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours each day. Every one to two weeks, you will switch to a new set of aligners; however, the exact timeframe will depend on the discretion of your orthodontist and your individual treatment plan.
If your trays aren’t worn for at least 20 hours a day, it could set your treatment timeline behind schedule. Thus, as a general rule, the only times your trays should not be in your mouth is when you are eating, drinking anything but water, and brushing and flossing your teeth/soaking your aligners.
Cleaning Your Aligners

Keeping your CandidPro aligners clean is essential to keeping your teeth healthy and strong during treatment. Always clean your aligners with lukewarm or room temperature water. Because they’re made of plastic, using hot water could warp them, affecting their ability to effectively move your teeth.
Be sure to rinse your trays each time you return them to your mouth. Aligners can be properly cleaned by soaking them in aligner cleaning crystals for 15 to 30 minutes a day, or by using a soft-bristled toothbrush and clear hand soap.
Excellent oral hygiene is also a must during treatment with CandidPro. You will need to brush and floss your teeth each time you remove your aligners to eat.
Eating & Drinking

Though you can eat and drink whatever foods and beverages you want during treatment with CandidPro, it’s very important to never consume anything but water while your aligners are still in your mouth.
When you remove your trays, be sure to store them in their protective case. This will help prevent damage and loss of the aligner, as their discreet appearance often makes it easy to misplace them.
Losing or Damaging a Tray

Losing an Invisalign aligner may seem stressful, but it’s not the end of the world. Still, if it happens it’s best to address the situation before it has a chance to set back your treatment timeline. Most people lose aligners when they remove them to eat, especially when they’re not stored in their protective case.
Should you lose or damage your CandidPro aligner, your orthodontist may order you a new one or instruct you to advance to your next tray. However, this largely depends on how close you are to needing to switch trays- as well as your orthodontist’s discretion.
Routine Check-Ins

CandidPro check-ins typically occur every four to eight weeks, depending on your individual treatment plan. These visits are usually very short (about 15 minutes or so). During your appointment, your orthodontist will provide the next set of aligners and make sure that you’re on track with where you need to be to reach your smile goals.
How Much Does CandidPro Cost?

Despite what you may have heard, there is no definitive cost of clear aligners in McKinney. This is because the price you’ll end up paying will depend on various factors, including your age, how misaligned your teeth are prior to beginning treatment, and how often you wear your aligners. There’s also the question of how much insurance coverage you qualify for. Ultimately, the only way to know for sure how much your treatment will cost is to schedule a consultation with us.
Factors that Affect the Cost of CandidPro

Each patient is different, which means you may pay more or less than someone else undergoing the same type of treatment. Various factors must be considered, such as:
- The severity of your case and its complexity regarding tooth movements.
- If any preliminary treatments are needed.
- Whether you need aligners for the top row of teeth, the bottom row of teeth, or both.
- How many aligners need to be made.
CandidPro vs. Mail-Order Aligners: Which Costs More?

It’s easy to be attracted to “do it yourself” orthodontic solutions, as they are often more affordable. Unfortunately, there are many downfalls to this method of treatment. From requiring you to take your own impressions to no professional oversight, it is possible you could do more harm than good along the way.
But with CandidPro, the money you spend is well worth the investment because of the trusted care you’ll receive from a team of professionals who know what they’re doing as well as comfortable aligners that are guaranteed to move your teeth in the right direction. In the end, you’ll have results that are long-lasting and life-changing.
Does Dental Insurance Cover CandidPro?

You’ll be pleased to know that many dental insurance companies do offer coverage for CandidPro. Similar to the way they will agree to cover braces, it is possible you can have up to 50% of your orthodontic treatment covered. However, not all insurers are willing to include clear aligners as part of the plan, which is why you will need to speak to a representative at your insurance company first to determine how much you can expect your out-of-pocket expenses to be. It may be possible to use your FSA account to cover any remaining costs.
Options for Making CandidPro Affordable

Even if your dental insurance company does not provide the coverage you need for CandidPro, you don’t have to throw in the towel. There are alternative ways to pay, including:
- Available, in-house payment plans. Our team is happy to provide an easier way for you and your family to better manage your budget and still receive the necessary treatment. We can spread out your payments across 24 months with no added interest.
- Flexible financing through CareCredit. This is another alternative payment option that allows you to apply for a low or no interest payment plan if you are eligible.

CandidPro FAQs
Do you still have questions about what life will be like during CandidPro treatment? We don’t want you to miss out on all the benefits clear aligners have to offer. We also want you to make a well-informed decision regarding your oral health. That’s why we’ve answered a few frequently asked questions about CandidPro below.
Does It Hurt to Wear the Aligners?
Unlike metal brackets and wires, CandidPro’s smooth plastic trays are designed with your comfort in mind. They shouldn’t irritate the soft tissues in your mouth like braces often do.
However, some patients experience minor soreness or sensitivity when switching to a new pair of aligners. To minimize the discomfort, we suggest switching to a new pair right before bed. That way you can sleep through most of the adjustment process.
Will the Aligners Affect the Way I Talk?
As comfortable as the aligners are, your mouth will need some time to get used to them. Your tongue might get confused at first, especially when pronouncing words with “s” sounds, which may result in a slight lisp. This should subside after a week or so as your mouth grows accustomed to the aligners.
How Do I Keep My Aligners Clean?
Your aligners might start out translucent, but improper hygiene can give them stains that make them noticeable. Fortunately, maintenance is fairly simple. Rinse them off with cool or lukewarm (not hot) water after taking them out to eat and brush your teeth before placing them back in after your meal. At least once a day, gently scrub them with a clear antibacterial hand soap.
